Racing Cars (Nov 10)

Thrills, spills and speedy Beavers - a racing car comes to the Scout Hut.

We had a visit from a fully-souped up MR2 racing car and driver, stripped to the bare bones for track racing (the car, not the driver). An enthralling talk about racing started the evening, with in-car videos from a hairy race around the course. Cries of 'That's just like Mummy in Waitrose' were followed by lots of questions from the Beavers about flags, crashes, speedy racing, more crashes and other techno things. Then one of the highlights - seeing the flameproof undies.

The Beavers then got a chance to sit in the actual car, pretending to be the driver. In their mind's eye they were shooting down the home straight at Silverstone, taking the checked flag and being little Lewis Hamiltons. And there were no accidents (or damage to the car - fingers were kept off the ignition).

Another cracking evening for the Beavers!
