Monkey Sanctuary talk
This term we have been raised money to sponsor a monkey at the Lakeview Monkey Sanctuary, Ascot. This charity rescues monkeys from across the world who have been kept in unsuitable conditions, and provides a safe home for the rest of their lives.

The owner of the charity, Sharon Shaw, came to talk about the monkeys and the terrible lives they had to live before finding a secure new home at her Sanctuary. We heard about how monkeys like to live, their habits, and the huge amount of food that Sharon has to prepare every day - to feed 30 monkeys! Our Beavers were fascinated and asked so many questions, and were amazed to find out so many facts (including that one monkey doesn't like bananas).
We had a vote on which monkeys we wanted to sponsor (after agreeing that all of them were lovely), and then presented Sharon with a cheque for the sponsorship.
We will be making some feeders for the monkeys next term, and hearing more about our sponsored monkeys.
