Hark! The herald Beavers sing!

Hark! The herald Beavers sing! (Dec 10)

1st Sunningdale Beavers brought back the tradition of carol-singing around the village with gusto.

On a night cold enough to freeze Beavers to their woggles we gathered in the Scout Hut to prepare for the evening's expedition. Some quick practice songs got the vocal chords warmed up and - after a late dash home for coats by parents who had not dressed their Beavers warmly enough (you know who you are!) - we set off with torches and lanterns to let Sunningdale know Christmas is a-coming.

Our walk down the street led to instant cheery renditions of Away in a Manger and then Jingle Bells, the lusty 'Heys' startling a few pedestrians in the dark. We then gathered outside The Nags Head for a few (carols). We moved on with more singing and stopped outside Holy Trinity Church, and Arkela appeared to compliment our singing and join in too.

We carried on back through the village, with the promise of hot chocolate and biscuits in the Scout Hut to warm us up. We hope we proved to the good residents of Sunningdale that Beavers can sometimes make a nicer sound than the usual mania that emits from the Hut!

A Happy Christmas to you all!
